LogTen Pro

LogTen Pro's Smart Share will even identify and change fields based on who is sharing and receiving the logged flight. So for example, a certified flight instructor can fill in details for a flight with a student, sign the flight and when they share it with their student, LogTen Pro will automatically switch dual given to. 1. ForeFlight Logbook allows you to save memories of flights by attaching unlimited photos to flight entries, aircraft profiles, certificates, and endorsements. Use photos to capture the view on approach to the runway, keep a visual record of squawks, or take a selfie of you and your passengers. Also export an FAA 8710 report to serve as a guide.

One of the best features in LogTen Pro X’s electronic logbook is the Smart Group feature. I use the smart group feature to get an overview of my roster. These Smart Groups are fully programmable to suit your needs. For example, if you are interested in tracking your Instrument hours, you can set up one Smart Group for that.

That being said, many new users of LogTen Pro X also need some help to getting started. So here are some of the Smart Groups that I use. For each of these Smart Groups, you can click on the link and it will be added to your App. Just make sure you click on the links with a device that runs the LogTen Pro X app.

Pro Tip

I import my flights from Crew Connect.Read my earlier article about CrewConnect’s export to LogTen Pro X function.

Today Duty

I use this Smart Group to get a sense of how much duty I’ve done after I land and am done for the day. The smart group grabs the data from the “Total Duty Time” field for the last 13 hours (because normal duty hours are unlikely to exceed 13 hours), and the next 2 hours (since I could be keying in duty hours data during passengers disembarkation, before the actual end).

This Smart Group is useful for me to ensure my calculations of Crew Duty hours are correct in the post flight report.

Duty Hours

In accordance with CAAS’s regulations in AOCR, Cabin crew duty hours shall not exceed:

  1. 60 hours in any 7 consecutive days;
  2. 05 hours in any 14 consecutive days;
  3. 210 hours in any 28 consecutive days;

So I use the following groups to track.

7 Days Duty Hours – Goes Green at 45, Amber at 50 and Red at 60. Add This Smart Group to your LogTen Pro X

14 Days Duty Hours – Goes Green at 80, Amber at 90 and Red at 105. Add This Smart Group to your LogTen Pro X

28 Days Duty Hours – Goes Green at 80, Amber at 195 and Red at 210. Add This Smart Group to your LogTen Pro X

Flight Cumulative Limits

In accordance with CAAS’s regulations in AOCR, the maximum number of flying hours a crew member may be permitted to undertake are:

  1. 100 hours in any consecutive 28 days
  2. 1000 hours in any consecutive 12 complete calendar months

So using the following 2 Smart Groups, I am able to get an instant overview of how hard I am working

CAAS 28 Days – Goes Green at 75, Amber at 85 and Red at 100. Add This Smart Group to your LogTen Pro X

CAAS 12 Months – Goes Green at 800, Amber at 900 and Red at 1000. Add This Smart Group to your LogTen Pro X

This Month Scheduled

If you import your month’s schedule from Crew Connect, the Scheduled Out and In times will be automatically imported into LogTen Pro, and the Smart Group This Month Scheduled should show meaningful information. I use this information to get a sense of how much allowances I will be making this month since the bulk of my allowances are based on Scheduled Flight Hours.

This Month Actual

I use this smart group to know instantly how many hours I have been this month. Why? No good reason. Pilots just like to know how many hours they fly.

Previous Month Scheduled Hours

Logten Pro Windows

Since flight allowance is paid after the work month, I use this field to remind myself how much allowance I am expecting! For simple accounting purposes to make sure the people and HR are paying me correctly.

Previous Month Actual

I use this Smart Group to know how much I flew last month!

Data Integrity

These Smart Groups should be good enough for you to keep yourself safe, and to provide you with a good overview of the number of hours you have flown. However, the human being the weakest link, if your data input into LogTen Pro is wrong, the numbers in these Smart Groups will be wrong as well.

To reduce the chance of input errors, I recommend importing as much data as you can from CrewConnect (link to the article), and carefully inputting the rest of the details while cross checking with any available information you have from your aircraft’s computer.
