Rudy Giuliani's Twitter account has lost tens of thousands of followers since President Joe Biden took office on January 20.
Giuliani, a personal attorney to Donald Trump and former mayor of New York City, has seen several large plunges in follower numbers over the past month, according to the social media analytics platform Social Blade.
On January 20, Giuliani's verified Twitter account had 1,228,150 followers. This number has since fallen to 1,184,554—a drop of more than 43,000.
Two of the more significant drops came immediately after the inauguration, on January 21 and 22, when Giuliani lost more than 20,000 followers in total. The next big fall was logged on January 26, when his profile lost more than 25,000 followers in a single day.
Giuliani has remained an active Twitter user in the weeks since Trump was suspended from the platform on January 8, over posts that risked incitement of violence in the wake of the storming of the U.S. Capitol.
On Tuesday, Giuliani reacted to the second impeachment trial against Trump that began this week, writing: 'Is Congress a joke? Tomorrow the Senate will commence a proceeding to remove a person from an office he does not occupy.'
Last Sunday, he posted baseless claims that 'Antifa' and Black Lives Matter 'helped organize the January 6 attack on Congress.' The tweet remained online on Wednesday and it is unclear if the post violates Twitter's anti-misinformation policies.
Newsweek has contacted Twitter for comment.
Antifa and BLM attack DC like they helped organize the January 6 attack on Congress. However, so far their role is being concealed.
— Rudy W. Giuliani (@RudyGiuliani) February 7, 2021Some of the largest follower drops on Giuliani's Twitter account came as the social network permanently suspended tens of thousands of users who were spreading the unfounded QAnon conspiracy theory.
Metrics logged by social media audit platform SpeakRJ show that Giuliani lost a large number of followers during this period last month.
The Twitter suspensions started on January 8. On that day, Giuliani had 1,344,459 followers. By January 22, the figure had fallen to 1,205,511—a loss of more than 138,000 followers.
YouTube confirmed last month that Giuliani had been suspended from a partner program that generates ad revenue from videos. The Google-owned platform took the decision in response to uploads that violated its guidelines on election misinformation.

The ballot machine company Dominion Voting Systems filed a $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit against Giuliani after he alleged it played a role in rigging the election.

Giuliani took to Twitter yesterday to condemn the violence in Washington as 'shameful'.Donald Trump's personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani has tweeted that the violence on Capitol Hill last night was 'shameful'—a seeming volte-face from comments the day before calling for 'trial by combat.'
At 11.55 a.m. ET, the former New York mayor took to Twitter to condemn the violence 'in the strongest terms.'
'The violence at the Capitol was shameful. It was as criminal as the rioting and looting this summer which was not condemned strongly enough by the Left. This violence is condemned in the strongest terms. Our movement values respect for law and order and for the Police,' the tweet read.
However, this provided stark comparison to comments he made yesterday, just ahead of the violent outbreaks in Washington.
Referring to allegations of widespread election fraud, which he claimed also happened in the Georgia U.S. Senate runoffs, Giuliani called, controversially, for 'trial by combat.'
'If we're wrong we will be made fools of, but if we're right a lot of them will go to jail. Let's have trial by combat,' he said, without explaining exactly what he meant.
'I'm willing to stake my reputation, the president is willing to stake his reputation on the fact that we're going to find criminality there,' said the former New York mayor.
Giuliani made the comments to a crowd of thousands at the White House just hours before Congress met to ratify the final Electoral College vote, and a mob of angry Trump protesters stormed the Capitol building, resulting in the deaths of four people.
The day was marked by unprecedented violence, with at least 10 people arrested for gun possession crimes and other violations, while many were seen fighting with counter-demonstrators.
Rudy Giuliani has not been afraid to use hyperbolic language in his role as Trump's personal lawyer, frequent spokesman, and most loyal ally. He has made bold claims, including that China manufactured coronavirus.

However, he has been known for his draconian stance on law and order since his eight-year stint as New York City mayor, marked by Giuliani's crackdowns on everything from organised crime to illegal food vendors and late-night licensing.
What Happened To Rudy Giuliani
In equating the violence of Wednesday's clashes with the Black Lives Matter protests held across the country this summer, Giuliani draws on a common trope of the right. In comparison, commentators on the left have tended to critique the differences in policing approaches to the two movements.
